Two-day celebration of Caribbean culture comes to Brixton – including an award-winning film and a unique exhibition sharing ‘stories in a suitcase’
SKN Heritage Museum, the UK’s only museum celebrating Caribbean social history, heritage and culture, is holding a two-day exhibition event at Upstairs at The Ritzy, Brixton on 21st and 22nd May from 12 noon – 6pm to give visitors the chance to experience Caribbean culture as they’ve never seen it before.
The event will include the London premiere of ‘Nine Nights’, SKN’s award-winning short film exploring Caribbean funeral traditions in the UK, and ‘Home to Home: From Caribbean Isles to British Isles’, a widely-acclaimed exhibition revealing ‘stories in a suitcase’ – what the Caribbean Windrush generation brought with them to England.
Visitors are welcome to join SKN anytime from 12 noon-6pm on 21st or 22nd May at Upstairs at The Ritzy, Brixton. ‘Nine Nights’ will be screened each day from 3.30pm-4.30pm including a Q&A and panel discussion about the subjects raised by the film.
