Spring/Summer beauty trends

The hair and beauty experts at online retailer Hairtrade.com have been scouring the fashion shows and have selected the top trends that can be taken straight off the catwalk and put into your beauty regime.

Bold eye shadows and brushed up brows are just some of the trends designers from across the globe have been showcasing for next season.

From minimal makeup, to bold winged eyeliner, there are a number of chic yet easy styles that can be re-created at home before heading to the office or for a night out with friends.

Joanne Dodds, from Hairtrade.com said: ‘There were some amazing looks that have been showcased on the runway during London, Paris, Milan and New York Fashion Weeks.

‘We have been taking note of the most popular styles that can be easily achieved through using products already in your makeup kits.’

“With our top tips, you can achieve runway-ready makeup that can keep you looking effortlessly stylish all the way through the summer seasons.’

Here are the best Fashion Week looks you can recreate at home:

Feline flicks

Dramatic, winged eyeliner was popular on the catwalks, especially in the Milan shows. Perfecting a wing can be easily achieved with good, long-lasting liquid eyeliner. To make your wings even more accurate, simply place clear adhesive tapes underneath your bottom lashes and angle them towards your temples. Draw on your eyeliner using the tape as a guide. Remove the tape after applying and say hello to flicks that finally match.

Glitter lips

One look that got everybody talking in Fashion Week was the glitter lips that were featured on the Milan catwalks and by Pat McGrath at Donna Karan in New York. These look amazing at parties and will be sure to get you tons of compliments. Achieve this look easily at home by applying a bold, glossy lip colour onto the lips (you can use your favourite tinted gloss or a high-shine lipstick). Then, when the lips are still wet, dab a face glitter (in a similar shade to the lipstick) onto the lips using a cotton bud.

Minimal glow

One look that was unusually common this runway season was minimal makeup. Tons of designers were showcasing bare, super slick, glossy skin on the runways. Adding an illuminating or BB cream after applying a moisturiser can help you achieve this fresh-faced, dewy look. Finish by adding highlighting powder to the cheeks and nose.

Bold eye shadow

SS’17 showcased a lot of bold eye shadow tones. These we accompanied with nude lips and bare faces. Make your eye shadow pops this season by picking a shade that works perfectly with your eye colour. For blue eyes, earth tones, purple-based metallic colours and grey shades will work best. For brown eyes, go brighter with hot pinks, oranges and greens.

Brushed-up brows

Be daring next season and follow this bizarre beauty trend that has been debuted during the SS’17 shows. The ‘brushed-up brow’ look can be achieved by using either clear mascara or clear brow gel. The brows are brushed in an upward motion and then smoothed out using brow powder. To really make them pop, add a bright highlighter under the brow bone.
