Why did you want to become a model?
I feel like it was meant to be!
My mum makes traditional African clothes, and my sister followed in her footsteps studying for a degree in fashion design. Acting as my mothers and sisters mannequin from a young age, placed me in a position to be curious about modelling and the fashion industry as a whole. It was also encouraging that I fit the measurements criteria of a model.
So ever since, I’ve dreamt about it and the day I’d see my face on the front cover of vogue! So from fittings to helping backstage, I was intrigued by the fashion modelling world and wanted in!
How do you take care of your hair while working?
Fortunately for me, there’s not much to do! If I’ve got a job to do, I head over to my barbers the day before and get a crisp shape up and trim down, ready to work! I love that I’m finally embracing who I am.
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
Finally having a portfolio and cards to hand, I feel like I finally hold the ticket for entry! It’s amazing what my agent has done for me in the past 6 months, taking me from a dream to something that is becoming a reality, when I look through my book at the few shoots I’ve done, it gets me excited for what else is in store and how much further I can push myself.
What would be your dream modelling job?
Honestly? I’ve always dreamed of being an ‘Angel’! When you watch most catwalk shows, the models are so serious but the Victoria’s Secret shows exudes fun, life, energy and wings to die for! I am looking forward to bringing my interpretation to the catwalk.
You are often shown in street style features – describe your off-duty style.
Very relaxed! I’m a tomboy at heart, I love my jeans whether skinny, baggy or ripped you name them I got them! It’s all about being comfortable, whilst adding a little something: a piece of jewellery or a printed scarf to give some life to the outfit. I love long coats and baggy jumpers too! I like to keep it simple but trendy.
Great interview and pictures! It was an incredible experience to meet and work with Kaiyo, she is down to earth, very professional, beautiful and talented model and cheerful, warm person. I wish her to be the next top model, as she totally deserves it!
