Sunday 29th November was no ordinary night. Celebrities, industry icons and afro’s top hairdressers came out in style to celebrate the 21st Black Beauty/Sensationnel Hair Awards at the Hilton London Metropole. This prestigious competition for afro hair, has impacted on the careers of its winners with only the best walking away with the coveted award.
It was a double whammy for Michelle Thompson of the Francesco Group who was awarded Stylist of the Year and also picked up the Colourist of the Year award. The party continued into the night as winners and finalists celebrated in style.
This year’s event was hosted by BBC broadcaster and journalist Brenda Emmanus, who welcomed the guests and got the night rolling. Comedian Slim had the audience in stitches with his stand-up routine, while multiple hair award winner, George Kosit, took us to the tropics with his Vivo Paradiso hair and fashion show.
Natalie Joseph of Hype Coiffure was inducted into the Hall Of Fame for winning Colourist of the Year on three occasions.
