Have your hair products stopped working?

Black Friday Offers
OSMO Essence for Best Curls

There is nothing worse than when your favourite product seems to stop working. If you’ve found that your once loyal hair product doesn’t seem to be delivering the same great results, it may be time to detox your hair

Why have my products suddenly stopped working?
Your hair may be overloaded with residue of past product applications. This means any further product you apply to your hair will just be sat on top of old product; which will in turn just weigh your hair down. Another cause may be your hair ends. If you have split ends and largely differing hair lengths, this can also affect how well a product sits on your hair.

But I shampoo my hair?
Shampoo is the most obvious cleansing choice & you’d be forgiven for assuming that this is adequate cleansing. However not all shampoos can lift dirt and old product, especially from the scalp.

What product can I use to detox my hair?
Apple cider vinegar is an amazing product for cleansing afro hair for a ‘fresh start’. Pour a generous amount on your hair and use your fingertips to rub it into your scalp and roots.

Are there any products on the market for specific scalp cleansing?
Yes, there are plenty! Salon Science Hydrafoliant Scalp Scrub AquaCacteen (£12/100ml) is a great pre-shampoo scalp treatment containing powerful exfoliants to help lift and remove old skin cells for a smoother and clearer scalp.

How will I know when to trim my hair?
Fraying and dry ends are a tell tale sign that it’s time for a trim. This will make all the difference to the appearance of your hair. Unless you’re in transitioning stages, keeping hold of your battered ends won’t do you any favours.
